Why you play worse in tennis matches than practice & HOW TO FIX IT!
All your shots felt great in practice - forehands, backhands and serves! Then you go play a tennis match - and you play terrible! In this video, I'll share with you why you might be a "practice champ" and what you can do to play at a similar level in matches.

I never won the other way until I was in my 50's
My favorite
Really helpful, especially the wrist cock prior to launch. Could this be the missing link?
Is that a Monica Seles copycat?
In the UK, 3 steps back would have you in the fence
Your online coaching is my favorite by far. I love how specific and detailed you do your coaching. So so helpful. Thank you!!!
Meike Babel I like a lot your videos and I appreciate you very much but, It is not wrong IF one keeps the hips forward rotated and the trunk turned back, thus obtaining hip-shoulder separation, an essential element . Let's not throw away everything from the past, there were players with great serves who brought the back foot forward, example Roscoe Tanner, 153 mph with a wooden racket!
Test the Atra 105 please
Astral
🎉
Is that a two-handed forehand??? Mind blown...
Great job!!!
I think it is Steffi performing such a beauty.
It is very nice seeing a great female coach giving some amazing tips.👍🏼
My tennis club just bought the yellow Sportbot machine that can move around the court on its own. Super fun to play with
Oh wow! My coach and I just did this exact thing last week. He’s a legend too.
As I always say, without a coach like Meike,i will never be the best ,I mean at amateur level, even if I have the potential,I just have powerful forehand and its not enough to beat anyone, but I think Meike videos can help me a lot
Thank you! That is very kind!
My favori 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷

Gracias
Turn back motion too much. Use ur elbow and shoulder
But she did not hit the ball to show how effective her method is. Waste of time.
🤦🏼♀️
I never practice with people I dislike. They can kiss my rear.
You have continental grip..Old style stroke. 1970th..You should learn nextzen stroke. 😅
She has a western grip. You said the western grip forehand had lots of drawbacks. But I dunn agree with u. She is still number one player in world ranking. I think you have old school grip and outdated teaching methods.
And I think you have no idea what you’re talking about :)
But I want the big winner...😢
Never thought about time /exhaustion in matches. Spot on and great video! ❤❤❤
Thank you!
Clever idea...Is this the same idea as tossing drill- with 2 balls- ( 1 arm tosses and racquet arm aims to throw at tossed ball)?
Right leg step forward? Why?
Thanks for the lesson! Very well explained! As I see you play yonex super rd comp racquet? Do you like it?
Can't agree more😂...Good sharing!
lol It’s like she watched me play today
I was about to call my friend Raymond to play but then I re-read your title and I got it wrong ..I misread as play with people who are ugly ......sorry Raymond..
what size vcore are you using now?
It’s the 97
Could it be vcore 95 or 98? Just based on the red paint job.. and great video thank you!
PREZACKLY! Be CONSISTENT, rather than trying to do TOO much, then get all emotional about it😅
Great tips! Thank You!
You’re welcome!
What a great video Meike! I think everyone should watch this once they get serious about winning matches . about practicing and playing with people who have different styles. I mean how are you going to learn how to beat a pusher (ex.) if you dont play them !? I agree about playing more mtaches but like you said sometimers there just isnt time, I tend to play 10 point tie breakers after the warm up . its not physically as demanding but handling the nerves is very similar since one break can do you in. r
Yes you have to try and make things work for what you can do.
💯 correct
I like how this shows that back leg movement for balance, adding to forward momentum racquet moving low to high eyes on the ball…. Yeah!
GET THE THING IN... THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID TO ME THE LAST TIME...😂😂😂...JOKES ASIDE MEIKE....THAT COACHING ,MADE ME THINK🎾❤️
Meike there’s a significant ball speed difference, however watching your service action without the speed tracking it looks similar. Are you intentionally varying the speed and why or …. ?
Winning Ugly is a good book by Brad Gilbert
True
I play practically with anyone the Problem with Ugly tennis style players Usually they have Ugly and Filthy Mouths as well 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣N
Great vid!! Some very true quotes that I will use for myself. Like no style points... And what comments do you give yourself for an unforced error. Thank you!
You’re very welcome!
Is the initial coil not lost if you make steps after the coil.? I have the feeling that the initial tension on the uniturn is lost. Can you explain that?
I see a hitch in your swing motion and that is: Letting your tossing arm drop down too early as you swing up the racket instead of leaving it up a little until your racket has almost in contact with the ball. This will allow you to tuck in your tossing arm down towards your tummy after you hit the ball thus creating that torque.
Fantastic video
Thank you
Thanks!
Thank you!
Yup, point play without wasting time hitting from the middle not more than 10 minutes. You’re not there for meditation! What I do now after a little warm up is at least to tell my practice partner let’s start moving each other around now like in a point, but not trying to hit winners initially. After 10 more minutes of doing this now start hitting winners too if the opportunity is there.
I think that’s a great way to do it!
